Signs and tests
While the abdomen auscultation with a stethoscope, the doctor may hear high pitched borborigmos at the start of mechanical obstruction. If the obstruction has persisted for a long time or if the gut is very injured borborigmos the decline until finally disappearing.
The paralytic ileus is characterized by reduced or absence of borborigmos.
Among the tests showing occlusion are:

* Abdominal Radiography
* Opaque Enema
* Transit esofagogastroduodenal
